Patricia Kowalski, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of San Diego. She has been affiliated with the university since 1989 and teaches courses in Introductory Psychology and Developmental Psychology, including Child and Adolescent Development, Adult Development and Aging, and Research Methods in Developmental Psychology.
- Education: PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Denver; MA in Experimental Psychology from California State University, Fullerton; BA in Psychology from San Diego State University.
Her research focuses on educational psychology, particularly student motivation to learn, attitudes toward learning, and factors influencing misconceptions in psychology and education. She collaborates with Dr. Annette Taylor on studies related to student misconceptions, with publications in journals like the Journal of Educational Psychology and Teaching of Psychology.
Professor Kowalski advises Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, and mentors students who regularly attend conferences such as the Western Psychological Association convention and the American Educational Research Association conference. Her work has been supported by a National Institute of Mental Health Grant.
