Professor Pat Monaghan holds the Regius Chair of Zoology at the University of Glasgow's School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine. Her research combines evolutionary ecology with physiological mechanisms, focusing on life-history strategies, effects of early-life conditions on development and aging, and conservation biology.
Research Focus: Long-term consequences of early-life conditions, resource allocation trade-offs, telomere dynamics, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial function. Maintains long-term studies on red-billed chough conservation.
Funding: Primarily supported by European Research Council Advanced Investigator Awards, BBSRC, NERC, Leverhulme Trust, AXA Foundation, and European Commission.
