Pat Barclay is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Guelph and Director of the Bachelor of Arts & Sciences (BAS) program. He is cross-appointed with the BAS program, where he teaches courses bridging arts, natural sciences, and social sciences. His research combines evolutionary biology, animal behavior, social psychology, mathematical game theory, and experimental economics to study cooperation, altruism, reputation, punishment, and risk-taking.
- Research Interests: Cooperation, altruism, partner choice, biological markets, punishment, social dilemmas, risk-taking, inequality, and cognitive mechanisms of social exchange.
- Scientific Awards: Early Career Award for Distinguished Scientific Contribution (HBES, 2015); New Investigator Awards (HBES, 2005 and 2003).
- Teaching: Offers courses in evolutionary psychology, critical thinking, philosophy of science, and applied psychology topics.
- Laboratory: Leads research on human prosociality and social behavior, utilizing experimental games and mathematical models.
