Parrish Wright is an Assistant Professor of Classics at the University of South Carolina, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures.
- Ph.D. in Greek and Roman History, University of Michigan
- M.A. in Classical Art and Archaeology, University of Michigan
- B.A. in Classics, McGill University
Her research integrates textual and material evidence to examine pre-Roman and Roman Italy, focusing on foundation stories in southern and central Italy. She explores how Greek settlements and indigenous groups used myth to articulate identity and build Mediterranean connections, challenging Rome/Athens-centric historiography.
Recent publications analyze Middle Republican Roman magistrates' Italic descent and urban development in Central Italy via the Gabii Project excavations (2012–2018).
- Scientific Awards: Samuel H. Kress Foundation Rome Prize Fellow, Tytus Fellowship (University of Cincinnati), Loeb Classical Library Foundation grant.
She serves as trench supervisor at the Gabii Project and is on teaching leave during 2024–2025.
