Prof. Papazoglou Dimitrios is an Assistant Professor in the Materials Science and Technology Department at the University of Crete and a member of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) at FORTH. He holds dual affiliations with both the academic and research sectors. His education includes a PhD in Physics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1998), focusing on photorefractive materials in optical systems.
His research interests center on nonlinear optics, ultrafast laser interactions with materials, laser microfabrication, and dynamic holography. Notable contributions include studies on laser-induced structural modifications in fused silica, Airy beam dynamics, and femtosecond laser processing techniques.
Prof. Papazoglou has organized sessions at international conferences such as LAMP and LPM, and served as a referee for journals like Applied Physics Letters and Optics Communications. His work spans over 40 refereed publications and 29 conference presentations, with 304 citations and an h-index of 11 (2011).
He has pioneered research on plasma dynamics during laser filamentation, contributing to advancements in photonic device fabrication and nonlinear optical phenomena. His lab focuses on applications ranging from micro-printing to biomedical materials processing.
