Paolo Somigli is a Professor at the University of Bolzano (unibz), affiliated with the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Department of Musicology and the History of Music. His research focuses on the interplay between traditional and contemporary music, the Italian reception of dodecaphony, and music pedagogy for ages 5-12. He holds a Dottore di ricerca in musical disciplines, a Dottore in Lettere with a thesis in Music History, and a piano diploma.
He has authored studies on Arnold Schönberg's impact on music education (2017) and edited a volume on 20th-century music from an educational perspective (2019). As editorial director of Musica Docta (fascia A), he promotes scholarly work in musicology. His research extends internationally, including participation in PRIN projects.
Teaching includes courses such as Music Education and Didactics: Methodological Foundations and Music in History and Society, focusing on practical and theoretical frameworks for primary education. A recent project, Forever Young, brings classical music to youth centers like RSA Don Bosco, fostering cultural engagement.
