Paolo Chirumbolo is an Associate Professor of Italian in the Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures at Louisiana State University (LSU), within the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (2004). His research focuses on modern and contemporary Italian literature, cinema studies, literary theory, and cultural studies, with particular attention to themes of labor, environmental narratives, and socio-cultural transformation. He teaches courses such as Italian 2155 and 3071.
His publications include The Game of Chairs: Essays on the Fiction and Cinema of Italian Work in the Twenty-First Century (2022) and Between Consciousness and Self-Consciousness (2009). His work explores labor narratives in Italian cinema and literature, postindustrial landscapes, and eco-documentaries. Recent scholarship addresses migration crises, regional identities, and the intersection of technology with narrative forms in authors like Calvino and Volponi.
