Marie Fabre is a Lecturer in Italian Studies at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS Lyon) since 2013. Previously, she held positions as ATER (2011–2013) and grant-holder-monitor (2008–2011) at Stendhal-Grenoble 3 University. She completed her PhD in 2012 on utopian themes in Elio Vittorini and Italo Calvino’s works, earning a Very Honorable Mention. Her research focuses on 20th-century Italian literature, utopian narratives, and political literature, with a particular emphasis on authors like Elsa Morante, Italo Calvino, and Pier Paolo Pasolini. She has published extensively in journals like Cahiers d'Études Italiennes and Cahiers de L'Herne, exploring topics such as drug use in literature, postmodernism, and cultural critique. Fabre has also contributed chapters to edited volumes and presented at international conferences. Her work often bridges literary analysis with broader socio-political contexts.
Her educational background includes a Master’s in Italian Studies from the University of Pisa (2006–2007) and a Licence in Italian from Lyon III. She has held research fellowships in Italy, including at the University of Pisa and Bologna. Her awards include the Franco-Italian VINCI grant (2010–2013) and a coupled grant at Grenoble 3 University. Fabre’s research also extends to translation studies and the intersection of literature with film and cultural movements.
