Paola GAETA

Paola Gaeta is an Adjunct Professor of International Law at the Graduate Institute, with a career spanning multiple prestigious institutions. She holds a PhD from the European University Institute, Florence. Previously, she served as Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor of International Law at the University of Florence (1998–2007), before becoming Professor of International Criminal Law at the University of Geneva and Director of the LL.M. in International Humanitarian Law at the Geneva Academy (2007–2010).

Her expertise focuses on international criminal law, international immunity law, and jurisdictional conflicts. She is a co-editor of major legal commentaries, including The 1949 Geneva Conventions (2015) and The Oxford Handbook of International Law in Armed Conflict (2014).

She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of International Criminal Justice and previously the European Journal of International Law. Her research bridges humanitarian law, human rights, and global governance challenges in armed conflicts.
