Dr Panagiotis Kotsantis is a Lecturer in Genome Stability and DNA Repair at the Department of Biomedical And Life Sciences, Lancaster University. His research focuses on DNA repair mechanisms in mammalian cells, particularly addressing DNA replication stress and its role in diseases like cancer, neurodegeneration, and immunodeficiency. He employs molecular/cellular biology techniques, including imaging and DNA fibre assays, to study telomere dynamics and RNA:DNA hybrids. His work aims to identify therapeutic targets for genomic instability-related disorders.
- Affiliations: Faculty of Health and Medicine, Lancaster University
- Research Themes: Genome stability, DNA repair pathways, telomere biology
Publications include a 2024 article on Evergene, a bioinformatics tool for tumour analysis. He actively participates in peer review for journals like Nature Communications and Cell Reports, and hosts academic seminars. Current research includes investigating the RNF169 ubiquitin ligase in DNA stress responses (2025-2026 project).
