Nadell's research examines 350 years of the American Jewish experience through the lens of women, gender, and religion. Her current work investigates antisemitism as an enduring American tradition, tracing its manifestations from colonial times to contemporary campus environments. She frequently connects historical patterns to modern societal challenges, emphasizing the intersection of religious identity and social justice.
Her publications reveal consistent focus on documenting Jewish women's contributions to American society while expanding into broader analyses of religious intolerance. The thematic evolution shows progression from specific studies of women's ordination to comprehensive examinations of antisemitism as foundational to understanding American Jewish identity.
Her scientific honors include:
- Scholar/Teacher of the Year, American University (2007)
- Jewish Book of the Year, Jewish Book Council (2019)
