Ovidiu Gherasim-Proca

Ovidiu Gherasim-Proca is a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science, International Relations and European Studies at Universitatea Alexandru Ioan Cuza din Iași, Romania. He holds all his academic degrees from the same institution, including a doctoral degree focused on Romanian social democracy after 1989.

His research interests include political ideologies, democratization, political transitions, electoral systems, political anthropology, and cultural studies, with a strong regional focus on Central and Eastern Europe.

He has developed and taught innovative courses such as Borders, Barriers and Protest Culture and The New Politics of Social Movements in Central and Eastern Europe, supported by a 2016 grant from the PATTERNS Lectures programme of Erste Stiftung. This grant enabled the introduction of new curricula on protest dynamics in post-communist societies.
