Ovidiu Gherasim-Proca

Ovidiu Gherasim-Proca is a Lecturer at the Department of Political Science, International Relations and European Studies at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași. His work focuses on political ideologies, transitions, and democratization in Central and Eastern Europe.

Education:

• Bachelor's in Political Science from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași
• Master's in Political Science from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași
• PhD in Political Science from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, with a thesis on Romanian social democracy after 1989

Research Interests: His research spans political ideologies, democratization processes, electoral systems, and the anthropological dimensions of politics. He emphasizes cultural studies and institutional analysis in post-communist contexts.

Grants & Courses: In 2016, he secured a grant from the PATTERNS Lectures programme of Erste Stiftung to develop a course titled Borders, Barriers and Protest Culture. The New Politics of Social Movements in Central and Eastern Europe. He also teaches Introduction to Political Sciences and Political Anthropology.

Events: He delivered a lecture on modern Ukrainian protest culture, tracing its evolution from the 1990s Revolution on the Granite to the 2010s Revolution of Dignity.
