Prof. Dr. Otto Klemm is a Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at National Central University (NCU), Taiwan. Previously, he held a professorship in Climatology at the University of Münster, Germany since 2002. His work focuses on atmospheric aerosols, fog dynamics, urban climate, and ecosystem-atmosphere interactions. Klemm’s research integrates field measurements, modeling, and remote sensing to address challenges in air quality, hydrology, and climate change.
- Current affiliation: National Central University, Taiwan
- Previous positions: University of Münster, Germany; University of Bayreuth, Germany
- PhD (1988, Geoökologie) and Habilitation (1996, Atmospheric Science)
Research interests span aerosol chemistry, fog deposition, urban pollution, and climate impacts. He leads studies on fogwater chemistry in Taiwan, aerosol fluxes in mountainous regions, and methane emissions from wetlands. Klemm’s work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, combining meteorology with environmental engineering and ecology.
Publications highlight contributions to fog dynamics, urban air quality, and biogeochemical cycles. Recent studies include evapotranspiration modeling in Afghanistan, methane emissions in lake systems, and mobile measurements of urban pollutants. His team utilizes advanced techniques like eddy covariance and neural networks for environmental monitoring.
