Ott Puumeister is a Research Fellow in Semiotics at the University of Tartu's Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Institute of Philosophy and Semiotics. He holds a Doctor's Degree (2018) and a Master's Degree (2013) from the same institution, focusing on biopolitical subjectivity and political semiotics. His work bridges semiotics with Foucaultian theory, biosemiotics, and cultural critique.

Research Interests: Ott's research explores the intersections of semiotics with biopolitics, poststructuralist philosophy, and cultural narratives. Key themes include political subjectivity, conspiracy theories, environmental semiotics, and Foucaultian power dynamics. He contributes to journals like Sign Systems Studies and Acta Semiotica Estica, and co-edits the Semiotica annual review.
Awards: Recipient of the Juri Lotman Stipend (2018) for academic excellence. His work has also been recognized with awards from the Tartu International Landscape Poetry Festival (2024) and the Tartu Society for Slavic Cultures (2024).
Projects: Leads the Relational Approach of Strategic History Narratives (2023–2027), funded by the Estonian Research Council. Previously contributed to the Semiotic Fitting as a Mechanism of Biocultural Diversity (2019–2023).
