Orlando Goodall is a Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Plymouth's School of Society and Culture (Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business). His research focuses on Green Criminology, wildlife persecution, food fraud, and rural enterprise misconduct. He also examines geopolitical conflict, political corruption from a state crime perspective, and critical theoretical frameworks like historical materialism and critical realism.
- Current empirical work explores illegal deer taking and rural food crimes in the UK.
- Long-term project: Reconceptualizing wildlife persecution through innovative frameworks.
Teaching includes modules on Critical Issues in Criminal Justice (focusing on neoliberalism and penal policy), Global (In)securities and the State (addressing state crime and international responses), and Green Criminology (integrating fieldwork insights with theorists like David Harvey and Rob White). Guest lecturers include experts from the National Wildlife Crime Unit and Devon and Cornwall Police.
Prior professional experience includes research with the International State Crime Initiative on state crime and civil activism, and participation in seminars led by Roy Bhaskar (UCL IOE).
