Matthew Cramp

Professor Matthew Cramp holds the Chair in Hepatology at the University of Plymouth's Peninsula Medical School (Faculty of Health) and serves as Consultant Hepatologist at Derriford Hospital. He leads the Hepatology Research Group and the Peninsula HCV Operational Delivery Network. Professor Cramp maintains dual NHS and academic roles, directing a research portfolio spanning laboratory investigations to clinical trials.

His clinical practice encompasses all forms of liver disease, including inpatient/outpatient care, endoscopy, and liver transplantation leadership. Research focuses on hepatitis C mortality reduction, viral hepatitis therapeutics, and liver disease management strategies. His REF Impact Case Study demonstrates significant contributions to reducing hepatitis C mortality through clinical research translation.
