Oreste Pollicino is a Full Professor of Constitutional Law and AI Regulation at the University of Bocconi, Italy. He serves as Director of the LLM in Law of Technology Automated Systems and co-director of the research unit RULES (part of the Baffi research center). He is also President of the Centre on Digital Constitutionalism and Policy (DICOPO) in Brussels. His roles include Honest Broker for the EU Code of Practice on Disinformation (2022), former Executive Board Member of the European Agency for Fundamental Rights (2020–2025), and current Board Member of the Digital Library (Ministry of Culture). He represents Italy in the OECD Global Partnership on AI and is an academic member of the EU plenary Assembly for AI Code of Practice.
Research focuses on constitutional law adaptations to digital-age challenges, including AI regulation, data protection, cybersecurity, and the interplay between public/private actors affecting fundamental rights. Key areas include European Constitutional Law, Digital Constitutionalism, and life sciences integration with technology.
He has authored over 40 books and 300+ articles/chapters, including monographs like AI and Democracy (2024) and edited volumes such as the Oxford Handbook on Digital Constitutionalism (2023). His articles address algorithmic governance, emergency powers, and judicial frameworks for digital rights.
Teaching includes courses on Digital Privacy, AI Ethics, and Constitutional Law, reflecting his expertise in technology law and policy.
