Dr. Damian Clifford is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the Australian National University (ANU), affiliated with the ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy and the ANU Law School. Previously a FWO Aspirant Fellow at KU Leuven's CiTiP Centre, his expertise lies in privacy, data protection, technology regulation, EU law, and consumer protection. He has authored influential works including Data Protection Law and Emotion (2024) and co-edited Data and Private Law (2023).
His research focuses on legal frameworks governing data protection, AI ethics, automated decision-making, and children's digital rights. Notable projects include the Review of Privacy Laws in Tasmania (2021) and the Socially Responsible Insurance in the Age of AI (2023-2026) project addressing AI ethics in insurance. He actively collaborates on international initiatives like the Five Eyes Alliance analysis.
