Uta Kohl is a Professor of Law and Technology at Southampton Law School, with a focus on internet governance and the intersection of legal regimes. She currently serves as a Visiting Professor in Law and Technology at CUHK, Hong Kong (2023-2025).

Research Interests: Uta explores governance questions of the internet, including territoriality, dominant corporate actors, personal data, and algorithmic/AI technologies. She emphasizes intersections of private and public international law, privacy/data protection, and critical legal theory.
Recent Publications examine corporate immunities, toxic recommender algorithms, post-mortem privacy, and GDPR jurisdictional challenges. Her work bridges comparative law, legal history, and business and human rights.
Teaching: She has taught modules including Private International Law, Data Protection Law, and Legal Technologies.
