Omer Gilan is a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases, Monash University. His research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms in leukaemia, particularly how epigenetic inhibitors alter cellular states to inform therapeutic strategies. He investigates leukaemia stem cell maintenance and resistance to treatment, aiming to develop therapies that reset aberrant cell states.
- Current position: Senior Research Fellow in the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases
- Key focus areas: Epigenetic landscapes, AML, and Menin inhibition
Research interests include chromatin biology, gene regulation, and drug resistance in blood cancers. Gilan leads projects funded by NHMRC and the Cancer Council Victoria, targeting leukaemia self-renewal and epigenetic therapies. He mentors PhD students in projects involving CRISPR-based screens and epigenetic drug development.
Key collaborations span institutions in Australia and internationally, focusing on leukaemia genetics and therapeutic innovation.
