Oliver Schenker

Dr. Oliver Schenker serves as the deputy head of the Environmental and Climate Economics Research Department at ZEW (Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research). He is concurrently an associate member of the Sustainable Finance Research Platform and a senior advisor to Climate & Company. Previously, he held the Robert Bosch Junior Professorship focused on the Sustainable Use of Natural Resources at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, where he was affiliated with the Frankfurt School – UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance.

He completed his doctoral studies and undergraduate education at the University of Bern, establishing a foundation in environmental and economic research methodologies.

His research explores the design and impact of climate and environmental policies within globalized systems, emphasizing efficiency, effectiveness, and transnational interdependencies. Core domains include:

• Policy design and evaluation for environmental governance
• Economic analysis of climate change mitigation
• Globalization effects on sustainability interventions
• Resource allocation and sustainable finance mechanisms

Dr. Schenker's findings have been disseminated through high-impact publications in journals including Nature Energy, Journal of Public Economics, and Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, collectively addressing systemic challenges in ecological economics.

Professional affiliations include active membership in the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) since 2024 and the Association for Social Policy since 2022, facilitating academic collaboration and policy discourse.
