Assoc. Prof. Dr. Olha Madyar is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Central European Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Presov. She holds a PhD in Slavic Languages from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2007) and a scientific-pedagogical title of Associate Professor in Slovak Philology (2015). Her academic career includes roles at Uzhhorod National University (2006–2016) before transitioning to the University of Presov in 2019.
Research focuses on Slovak-Ukrainian contrastive linguistics, translation studies, and Slovak as a foreign language. Key projects include VEGA-funded work on anthroponymic categories in Slavic languages and KEGA research on Slovak as a second language for Ukrainian students. She has authored/co-authored monographs and peer-reviewed articles addressing gender categorization in Slavic languages, cultural translation challenges, and lexical adaptation.
Teaching expertise includes courses in Slovak language practice, translation, and cultural studies. International collaborations include research stays at the University of Presov’s Institute of Slovak Studies and participation in bilateral academic agreements between Ukrainian and Slovak institutions.
