Olga Piskareva

Dr. Olga Piskareva is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Anatomy and Regenerative Medicine at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the Russian Academy of Sciences and additional qualifications in Science Communication and Health Professions Education. Her research focuses on neuroblastoma, specifically investigating how the tumor microenvironment interacts with genetic/epigenetic factors to influence cell behavior, with an emphasis on developing novel immune therapies.

Her research integrates 3D tissue-engineered models to study neuroblastoma progression and drug resistance. Key areas include biomaterials, drug development, and systems biology. Dr. Piskareva leads the Cancer Bio-Engineering research group and coordinates the Foundation Year Cycle at RCSI.

Her articles highlight advancements in neuroblastoma therapy, immune tolerance mechanisms, and 3D modeling. She has received the Fulbright-HRB Health Impact Scholarship and currently chairs the Royal Irish Academy’s Life and Medical Sciences Committee.

Grants include funding for mRNA vaccine development (NeuVac, OncoVac) and 3D in vitro systems research. She actively mentors students and collaborates internationally, including at Johns Hopkins University.
