Dr Olga Cam is a Lecturer in Accounting and Financial Management at the University of Sheffield Management School. She holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), with board memberships in the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Education SIG and International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS).
Her educational background includes undergraduate and master's degrees from Uppsala University and a doctorate from the University of Sheffield.
Dr Cam's research centers on the emancipatory power of accounting for sustainable living, expanding beyond financial metrics to address environmental and social degradation through qualitative methodologies including participatory research and autoethnography. Her work bridges sustainability accounting, accounting education, and financial literacy for sustainable development.
Analysis of her 2016-2025 publications reveals a dominant focus on sustainability accounting frameworks and pedagogical innovation, with increasing emphasis on non-financial reporting standards, materiality assessments, and dialogical teaching approaches that connect accounting practices to ecological and social transformation.

She currently supervises Yehang Lu's PhD research on sports investment and sustainable urban governance, having previously guided Saioa San Miguel Bell (sustainable development/degrowth) and Yiren Wu (pro-sustainable tourist behaviors). Her research is institutionally supported through the Centre for Research into Accounting and Finance in Context (CRAFiC).
As a core member of CRAFiC, she contributes to interdisciplinary collaborations examining accounting's role in sustainable organizational decision-making and ecological civilization development.
