Oleksandr Stepanenko is a postdoctoral researcher at Laboratoire IEMN – UMR 8520, focusing on the development of nonreciprocal components for Terahertz (THz) and mid-infrared (mid-IR) frequencies. His work is centered on the TENOR project, which aims to realize compact isolating devices using magnetoplasmonic mirrors based on high-mobility semiconductors like InAs and InSb.
- Research Interests: Terahertz Technology, Mid-Infrared Optics, Magnetoplasmonics, Semiconductor Devices
The TENOR project leverages the unique properties of InAs and InSb, such as their plasma and cyclotron frequencies in the mid-IR range and high gyrotropy due to low effective mass of charge carriers. This enables the design of magnetoplasmonic mirrors with over 20 dB isolation at room temperature. Current efforts focus on experimental validation of these devices.
His publication on magnetoplasmonic isolators (2016) highlights his work in THz engineering and optoelectronics. Stepanenko is affiliated with the PHOTONIQUE THz research group at Laboratoire IEMN, which investigates advanced photonics and THz technologies.
