Olaf Tzschoppe

Prof. Olaf Tzschoppe is a Professor of Percussion and Chamber Music at the University of the Arts Bremen. He specializes in 20th/21st-century solo and chamber music, having premiered numerous works composed for him. He leads the Bremen Percussion Ensemble and co-founded Ensemble SurPlus and Trio SurPlus. Additionally, he is a member of the Experimental Ensemble (ENEX) and served in Percussions de Strasbourg (1992–2015). His work includes collaborations with ensembles like Klangforum Wien and Ensemble Modern, alongside improvisational performances and original compositions.

Prof. Tzschoppe regularly tours internationally and conducts masterclasses globally (e.g., China Conservatory, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory). He leads courses on contemporary music and chamber music at his university. The Bremen Percussion Ensemble, composed of his students and alumni, focuses on collaborations with composers and multimedia projects, including themes centered on Iannis Xenakis and György Ligeti.

His discography includes works like Schlag>| (2021) and adaptations such as Eine Nacht auf dem kahlen Berge (2020). He also co-founded duo etendis in 2016. His contributions span recordings for labels like Kreuzberg Records and Composer’ Art Label.
