Eric Lamb is an Associate Professor of Music and Head of Winds at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. A flutist renowned for defying categorization, he balances a multifaceted career as a concerto soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, and educator. He has performed with leading orchestras and ensembles like the Boulez Ensemble, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and Cleveland Orchestra, and participated in festivals such as Salzburg, Darmstadt, and Mostly Mozart.
As a committed advocate for contemporary music, he has premiered over 200 new works and collaborated with composers including John Adams, Kaija Saariaho, and Nico Muhly. His scholarly work focuses on 17th- and 18th-century flute repertoire, including edited editions of works by Quantz and Blavet. Eric is also a passionate educator, having taught at institutions like the University of Auckland, Hochschule Luzern – Musik, and Gulda School of Music Vienna.
His discography spans 15+ albums across labels like Kairos and Nonesuch, covering repertoire from Bach to Xenakis and even indie collaborations. He performs on a variety of instruments, including a Grenadilla wood Sankyo flute and baroque flutes by Tutz.
