Prof. Dr. Olaf Timmermans is a leading lecturer at the Applied Research Centre Vitality at HZ University of Applied Sciences and a visiting professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Antwerp. He holds a PhD in Healthcare Innovation from the University of Antwerp (2012), a Master's in Nursing from Cardiff University, and a Nursing Specialist degree from Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. With over 40 years of experience, he has worked in healthcare institutions like Adrz and Emergis, transitioned into academia in 2002, and maintained dual roles at HZ and the University of Antwerp until 2023.
His expertise spans education and research focused on creating healthy regions, addressing challenges in healthcare innovation, community care, and regional health policy. Key projects include SAIL (addressing coastal healthcare challenges), CASCADE (sustainable dementia care), and initiatives to connect students with the Zeeland region. He teaches across bachelor, master, and PhD programs, emphasizing practical, region-focused solutions.
His research integrates healthcare education with community engagement, leveraging e-health and professionalization strategies. Collaborations with educational institutions in Zeeland highlight his commitment to regional development through applied research.
