Gerda Andringa is a Professor in the Geriatric Care research group at HZ University of Applied Sciences, appointed in September 2020. She concurrently serves as an Associate Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience at University College Roosevelt (UCR). Her career includes a PhD in 2000 on Parkinson's disease treatment strategies, followed by roles as a visiting scientist at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH, Bethesda, USA) and a lecturer at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam's Department of Medical Pharmacology.
Her research focuses on interventions and technological aids for the elderly, particularly those with dementia. She is recognized for her innovative approaches to eldercare, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and student engagement. Notably, she won the 2020 Lecturer of the Year award at Utrecht University for fostering a challenging yet supportive learning environment.
Key projects include the Academic Workshop for Elderly Care Zeeland (AWOZ), CrossCare 2.0, and the 'In Perfect Health' initiative, all addressing healthcare innovation and geriatric care challenges. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in Zeeland's healthcare sector.
