Ohad Parnes is a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) in Berlin. He has held positions at multiple institutions, including the Open University of Israel and the Central European University in Budapest. His work focuses on the history of life sciences, modern medicine, and the impact of AI on historical knowledge systems.
- Education: PhD in History of Science (Tel Aviv University, 2001), Master’s (Cohn Institute for History and Philosophy of Science and Ideas)
Research interests span biomedical history, scientific rationality, and the interplay between AI and historical epistemology. His projects include From the Cell to the Microbiome: Agency, Reactivity, and Incorporation in the History of Biomedicine and Theories of Knowledge in the Twentieth Century: the “Split of Scientific Rationality”. Recent work trends explore interdisciplinary connections between material culture, knowledge systems, and global scientific exchange.
Parnes co-founded the Elkana Forum in 2022, fostering dialogue on science's disciplinary evolution. He has collaborated with institutions like the Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF) and leads initiatives at the MPIWG’s Department of Knowledge Systems and Collective Life.
