Dr Obinna Edeji is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Buckingham's School of Law, part of the Faculty of Computing, Law and Psychology. He holds an LLB and BL from Nigeria, an LLM from the University of Aberdeen, and a PhD from the University of Exeter. Previously a practicing lawyer in Nigeria, he transitioned to academia as a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Exeter and an Associate Lecturer at the University of Arden. At Buckingham, he leads modules on Land Law, International Human Rights Law, and teaches Equity and Trusts. He is the Contact Editor of the Lord Denning Law Journal and Admission Tutor for the LLB program.
His research focuses on International Human Rights Law, Children’s Rights, Socio-Economic Rights, and the intersection of economic theories (e.g., Capabilities Approach) with human rights. He has presented at conferences such as Queen’s University Belfast’s Human Rights Centre and the University of Strathclyde’s PGR Conference, addressing topics like the theoretical basis for education rights and the role of education in countering terrorism.
Dr Edeji’s interdisciplinary work bridges legal frameworks with socio-economic analysis, emphasizing practical implementation strategies through civil society collaboration. His recent publications explore neoliberal policies’ impact on education rights and the nexus between human dignity and human rights.
