Onur Oku is a Researcher at the Department of Tourism Management, Faculty of Tourism, Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, Turkey, a position he has held since 2016. Previously, he served at the Faculty of Business at the same university (2015-2016) and at Akdeniz University's Alanya Faculty of Business (2011-2015).
His educational background includes a PhD in Tourism Management from Akdeniz University (2023), a Master's in Tourism Business and Hotel Management (2013), a non-thesis Master's in International Trade and Money Management from Marmara University (2011), and a Bachelor's in Tourism Management from Boğaziçi University (2005).
Dr. Oku's research focuses on Sustainable Tourism, Tourism Marketing, Tourism Management, and Tourism Technologies. His work addresses critical issues in the tourism industry, including security perceptions of foreign tourists, sustainable practices in all-inclusive resorts, and the impact of tourism on local communities and urban life satisfaction. His methodology frequently employs survey-based analysis and performance evaluation techniques.
His publications reveal a strong regional focus on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, particularly Alanya. Key themes include tourism security assessments, sustainability benchmarking of resort systems, and community-level tourism impacts. His work demonstrates consistent application of quantitative methods like Importance-Performance Analysis and structural equation modeling.
Dr. Oku has secured research funding through projects including the national "Responsible Tourism, Seamless Future" initiative (2013) and the EU-funded "Piloting Job Rotation Programme for Employment Development in Agriculture Sector" (2013-2016). He serves as Erasmus Coordinator at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University and is an active member of the TODOSK Toroslar Nature Sports Club since 2023, reflecting his alignment with nature-based recreation principles central to his sustainable tourism research.
