Nynke Tromp is a design researcher at the Department of Industrial Design, Delft University of Technology, and a social designer at KVD reframing in Amsterdam. She is also a member of 'Redesigning Politics', a creative think tank focused on redesigning political thinking, institutions, structures, and interactions.
Nynke's research centers on how products can change behavior without people being aware of it. She explores the implicit influence of design on human behavior, viewing it both as a serious responsibility for designers and as a powerful tool to support desired behavior change. Her work aims to develop knowledge that enables designers to create implicit influences that facilitate pro-social behavior, allowing them to contribute positively to counteracting pressing social problems such as obesity, resource depletion, and immigration issues.
As a practitioner, Nynke works part-time at design agency KVD reframing, where she has developed products addressing social challenges including organ donation, political engagement of citizens, and recovery from psychosis.
