Nynke Elske Vellinga is a postdoctoral researcher at the Security, Technology & e-Privacy (STeP) research group within the Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen, Netherlands. She holds the title of Fellow for the periods 2022/2023 and 2023/2025. Her work focuses on legal challenges in automated driving, cybersecurity for autonomous vehicles, and legislative frameworks for emerging technologies.
Education:
- PhD in Law from the University of Groningen (defended 2020)
Research Interests: Nynke examines legal aspects of automated driving systems, including traffic law, product liability, and cybersecurity regulations. She actively contributes to the ITU focus group on AI for autonomous and assisted driving. Her recent projects include analyzing cybersecurity protocols for automated vehicles under the Cybersecurity Noord-Nederland initiative.
Professional Contributions: Co-authored a Dutch Ministry-commissioned report (2015) outlining legislative changes for automated vehicle testing. Published in leading law-and-technology journals.
