Noriyuki Kawada

Noriyuki Kawada is a Lecturer in Japanese Language at the Department of Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of British Columbia. He teaches Japanese language courses and maintains office hours on Mondays from 12:00-13:50 and Thursdays from 11:00-12:00 in Auditorium Annex B 202.

His educational background includes:

• MA in Second Language Studies from University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, specialized in Language Teaching and Language and Social Interaction
• BA in Second Language Studies from University of Hawai'i at Mānoa with a focus on teaching Japanese as a Second Language
• Certificate from Lancaster University in Language Testing, Classical and Modern Test Theory, and Statistical Analysis (100 hours of training)

Kawada has been engaged in Japanese language education since 2012, with extensive international teaching experience prior to UBC. His research focuses on language assessment and evaluation, with particular interest in accountability in language education and blended learning approaches. He has taught Japanese as a foreign/second language, Japanese business/academic skills, and heritage language instruction for Japanese children born in Hawai'i.
