Noona Kiuru is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Jyväskylä, specializing in developmental psychology with a focus on longitudinal studies of learning, well-being, and interpersonal relationships. She leads interdisciplinary research groups combining expertise from psychology, computer science, and education to develop technology-enhanced interventions for adolescents’ mental health.
Her research integrates statistical methods like structural equation modeling and mixture models to analyze both long-term and situational data. Key projects include the 'Right to Belong' initiative tackling loneliness in youth, EDURESCUE for resilient education systems, and the Youth Compass online intervention program. She has secured extensive funding from the Research Council of Finland and other national bodies, with active grants until 2028.
Her work emphasizes preventive interventions, such as ACT-based digital tools, and explores how relationships with peers, parents, and teachers influence academic outcomes. Recent studies focus on school well-being profiles, teacher resilience, and trajectories of educational transitions. Kiuru has presented at international conferences (e.g., EARLI, Metodifestivaalit) and contributed to over 14 publications in 2024–2025 alone.
