Noel Richardson

Noel Richardson is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences at South East Technological University. He holds external roles as Board Member of the Mens Health Forum in Ireland (2023–2024) and Member of Global Action on Men’s Health (2021–2024). His research focuses on men's health, mental health stigma reduction, suicide prevention, and physical activity promotion in male-dominated industries.

Education: PhD in Men's health practices and masculinities from University of the West of England (2007); MSc in Defence Forces personnel health from Queens University Belfast (1994); BSc in Physical Education and English from University of Limerick (1988).

Research interests include evaluating interventions targeting mental health literacy and help-seeking behaviors among men in high-stress occupations like construction and agriculture. Recent work examines suicide stigma in university settings and mental health training for farm advisors.

Collaborations include the healthCORE research group and projects analyzing community-based health initiatives. He is actively involved in policy-related research through organizations like the HSE's 'Know Your Numbers' campaign.
