Noah Johnson, PhD, is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, affiliated with the School of Medicine, Department of Neurology, and the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome. He focuses on neuroinflammation, neurodegenerative diseases, and drug discovery.
- PhD from University of Pittsburgh
- Post-doc at University of California, San Francisco
His research explores the role of apolipoprotein E (apoE) in Alzheimer's disease and Down syndrome, using high-throughput screening to identify inhibitors of apoE4. He also directs the human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) and cerebral organoid programs, developing models for testing therapies. Recent work includes investigating CSF1R inhibitors for tauopathy and tau acetylation in neurodegeneration.
Publications highlight his interdisciplinary work spanning Alzheimer's disease, neuroinflammation, stem cell models, and bioengineering approaches. He has identified FDA-approved drugs with potential repurposing for Alzheimer's and developed novel screening technologies.
His team’s discoveries involve apoE4 inhibition, tauopathies, and sex-specific microglial responses in neurodegenerative diseases, with ongoing clinical trials and animal model studies.
