Niğmet UZAL is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Abdullah Gul University. She holds a PhD from Middle East Technical University (2007) focusing on membrane technology for wastewater reuse, an M.Sc. (2001), and a B.Sc. (1997) in Environmental Engineering from METU and Mersin University. Her professional experience includes roles at Nigde University (2009–2012) and Kocaeli University as a research assistant.
Research interests center on membrane-based water treatment, industrial pollution prevention, and anaerobic biotechnology. Key projects include arsenic removal via ultrafiltration and wastewater recovery in denim/textile industries. She coordinates grants like the TUBITAK-funded arsenic removal project (2011–2012) and has led studies on EU IPPC Directive compliance in textile sectors.
Publications emphasize membrane processes for water purification, with contributions to journals like Desalination and Water Treatment and Journal of Colloid and Interface Science. Teaching includes undergraduate courses on environmental chemistry and graduate modules on advanced wastewater treatment.
