Professor Nishikant Mishra is a leading academic in supply chain and management systems at the University of Hull's Hull University Business School. He holds positions as Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management and Co-Director of the Institute of Digital Innovation and Sustainable Transformation. His career includes roles such as Head of Logistics and Management Systems at Hull University, Director of Postgraduate Research at Norwich Business School, and Director of Research at Aberystwyth Business School.
Research focuses on leveraging technology for supply chain efficiency, including decision support systems, circular economy frameworks, and low-carbon logistics. He has led over £30 million in research grants from Innovate UK, EPSRC, DEFRA, and others, addressing challenges in agriculture, healthcare, and transportation sectors.
Key interests span circular plastics, food waste innovation, blockchain-enabled supply chains, and humanitarian logistics. He has supervised numerous PhD students, many now in academic roles globally. Awards include Outstanding PhD Research Supervisor (2016) and High Commendation at SCMIS 2010.
Current leadership includes the Institute of Digital Innovation and Sustainable Transformation, fostering sustainability and digital innovation. Projects include KTP partnerships on circular economy models and STFC Food Network+ collaborations.
