Dr. Nirupama Agrawal is a Professor and founding faculty member of York University's Disaster and Emergency Management program since 2005. She holds a PhD in Water Resources Engineering from Kyoto University and has over 35 years of professional experience. Her research focuses on threat assessment from natural/intentional/technological hazards, disaster resilience in climate change contexts, and geospatial technologies for decision-making.

Research Interests: Dr. Agrawal specializes in emergency management, climate change impacts, flood mitigation, community risk perceptions, and early warning systems. Her textbook Natural Disasters and Risk Management in Canada is widely used in emergency management education.

- Co-Director of CDSN-MINDS project on domestic operations
- Adjunct Professor at UNU-INWEH (United Nations University)
- Developed the Tsunami Travel Time Atlas for Atlantic Ocean early warnings
- Mentored over 70 students and authored/edited 90+ publications
