Andrew J. Kruczkiewicz is a Faculty Lecturer in the M.A. in Climate and Society program at Columbia University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and holds the role of Senior Staff Associate II at the National Center for Disaster Preparedness (NCDP) within the Columbia Climate School. He specializes in disaster preparedness, climate policy, and early warning systems, with over a decade of experience collaborating with institutions like the Red Cross, World Food Programme, and World Bank.
His research focuses on extreme weather events (cyclones, floods, hydrometeorological hazards), compound climate risks, and integrating climate data into decision-making frameworks. As Principal Investigator of a NASA-funded project, he develops global flood early warning systems to improve emergency response protocols. He co-directs the Climate School Network's 'Sustainable and Resilient Living in an Era of Increasing Disasters' initiative.
Andrew serves on key international committees including the World Meteorological Organization's ENSO Information Task Team and the UN OCHA IASC Early Warning Analysis Cell. He frequently engages in media commentary on climate-related disasters.
