Andrew Kruczkiewicz is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente, in the Department of Applied Earth Sciences. Concurrently, he serves as a Senior Staff Researcher and Faculty Lecturer at Columbia University's Climate School, where he co-directs the Sustainable and Resilient Living in an Era of Increasing Disasters Network. He also acts as a Science Adviser for the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre.
His research expertise lies in disaster risk reduction, climate services, and remote sensing applications. Specifically, he develops methods to integrate earth observations into decision-making for humanitarian action and public health, validates climate datasets for extreme events (rainfall, temperature, floods), and investigates governance structures and risk communication for climate services. His work emphasizes practical applications in vulnerable communities through improved climate information services.
Andrew actively collaborates with the International Research Institute for Climate and Society and humanitarian organizations to strengthen early warning systems and resilience frameworks, focusing on perception-based risk communication and equitable climate service delivery.
