Nir Eyal is the Henry Rutgers Professor of Bioethics and Dr. and Mrs. Stanley S. Bergen Jr. Professor of Bioethics at Rutgers University. He holds dual faculty appointments in the Rutgers School of Public Health (Department of Health Behavior, Society and Policy) and the Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences (Department of Philosophy). His research focuses on population-level bioethics, including resource allocation, health policy ethics, and research ethics.
Education: DPhil in Politics from Oxford University; postdoctoral training at NIH’s Clinical Bioethics Department and Princeton University’s Center for Human Values. Previously affiliated with Harvard Medical School and T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Research Interests: Prioritizes ethical challenges in global health equity, such as disaster triage protocols, vaccine distribution, and electronic adherence monitoring. Explores philosophical foundations of bioethics through lenses of egalitarianism, self-ownership, and consequentialist ethics. Has contributed to debates on challenge trials and ethical frameworks for emerging infectious disease research.
