Bo Wang

Bo Wang is a tenured Professor at UMass Chan Medical School within the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences. He holds multiple appointments across the T.H. Chan School of Medicine in the Departments of Emergency Medicine, Population and Quantitative Health Sciences (Division of Biostatistics And Health Services Research), and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, as well as at the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in the MD/PhD Program.

Dr. Wang's research focuses on HIV prevention, implementation science, and advanced statistical modeling. His work emphasizes theory-driven strategies to sustain HIV prevention in The Bahamas government school system, mHealth interventions for PrEP use and stigma reduction in Thailand, and improving self-management of HIV and substance use in Zambia. He serves on the NIH's SIHH Study Section (2023-2027) and has secured numerous NIH grants as PI or MPI for research in these areas.

His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on global health implementation science, with particular attention to HIV prevention strategies in resource-limited settings. His work spans multiple continents including The Bahamas, Thailand, Zambia, and Vietnam, addressing issues of stigma, adherence, and program fidelity in diverse cultural contexts. His research integrates advanced statistical methodologies including MOST/SMART designs and machine learning approaches for precision prevention.

Dr. Wang's scholarly impact is evident through his extensive publication record and leadership on multiple NIH-funded projects, including R01, R34, and R21 mechanisms. His work bridges biostatistics, epidemiology, and implementation science to address critical gaps in HIV prevention and related health disparities across diverse populations.
