Chengwu Yang

Chengwu Yang, MD, MS, PhD, is an Associate Professor at UMass Chan Medical School, primarily affiliated with the Population and Quantitative Health Sciences department. He holds additional positions at the T.H. Chan School of Medicine (Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Biostatistics & Health Services Research) and the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (Departments of Masters in Clinical Investigation and Population Health Sciences). His research focuses on novel study designs (CREID/SCTD), measurement in health (MODS directorship), and oral health initiatives (OHI/NUCOH).

Dr. Yang's education includes an MD from Tongji Medical College, and advanced degrees in Biometry & Epidemiology from the Medical University of South Carolina. He has received prestigious awards like the Sylvan Green Award (2020) and an NIA grant (2006–2007).

His research interests span biostatistics, clinical trials, and public health, with a strong emphasis on patient-reported outcomes and methodological innovations. He leads the MODS section and collaborates on NIH grants, while also teaching graduate courses in biostatistics and scientific writing.
