Dr. Nina Mileva is an Assistant Professor of Public International Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Groningen. She specializes in Customary International Law (CIL), International Dispute Settlement, and Critical Approaches to International Law, with a focus on interpretation methodologies and equity in legal systems. Her research explores how domestic courts and marginalized states engage with CIL, advocating for more inclusive interpretive frameworks. She is a member of the Interest Group on International Legal Theory and Philosophy (ESIL) and the Faculty’s Wellbeing, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee.
Her research outputs emphasize CIL’s dynamic nature, bridging theoretical debates with practical applications. Recent work includes TWAIL-inspired analyses of international investment law and a comprehensive monograph on CIL interpretation. She is co-editor of the TRICI-Law Book Series, focusing on CIL’s theory and practice.
