Nina DeMare is a Chinese language instructor at Tulane University's Program for Asian Studies, where she has been teaching since 2008. She specializes in learner-centered, communicative, and task-based pedagogy, emphasizing alternative assessment techniques. Her courses include Beginning/Intermediate Chinese, Advanced Chinese, and innovative tracks like Chinese Literature and Culture and Chinese Media Literacy.
Education: B.S. in Education from Beijing Normal University, followed by work at the Inter-University Program (IUP) in Qinghua University. She later earned a degree in Educational Psychology and Methodology at SUNY Albany, focusing on educational assessment.
Teaching contributions include developing high-level language courses integrating cultural elements such as stand-up comedy for media literacy. She has taught a range of courses addressing contemporary Chinese themes.
