Niko Tracksdorf is an Associate Professor and German Section Head at the University of Rhode Island, College of Arts and Sciences. He serves as the Associate Director of the German International Engineering Program and Director of the URI German-STEM Immersion School in Berlin since 2019.

His research and teaching emphasize interdisciplinary language instruction, particularly German for professional contexts, intercultural competence development, and online/blended learning strategies. He pioneered German-STEM fusion courses like “Roller Coasters – The Thrill of German Engineering” and developed Impuls Deutsch, an intercultural, interdisciplinary beginning German textbook series using a flipped classroom model.

As editor and co-author of Impuls Deutsch (2019) and chair of the AATG German for Professional Purposes Committee, he advances innovative pedagogy. His work bridges German language education with engineering, fostering global readiness through virtual classrooms and international immersion programs.
